In part 1, I showed a Toyota Camry electronics throttle body that I picked up at the junk yard. The next step in drive-by-wire swapping the turbo miata is installing an accelerator pedal position sensor. I got a sensor off the same 2003-2006 Toyota Camry. Electrically, the sensor is just two potentiometers. The sensor works by allowing a pin to slide within a rail that’s mounted to the accelerator pedal. I made a bracket to hold the sensor to the miata’s pedal assembly. The plan is to allow the original throttle cable to remain functional so that I can still drive the car while this swap is being developed.
Here are pictures showing the pedal sensor bracket build.
