It’s that time again! Time to check up on how the spark plugs are doing on the miata. I haven’t changed anything since I did fuel injector testing. As you can see, cyclinder 4 is still looking the worst.
I checked the gap on these plugs. I think I had these gapped to 0.030” when I installed them early last year.
Cylinder | Gap |
---|---|
1 | 0.035” |
2 | 0.035” |
3 | 0.035” |
4 | 0.040” |
This time around, I installed the new plugs gapped at 0.034”, which is what they were out of the box. I also reversed the ignition coils: cyl4 coil on plug1, cyl3 coil on plug2, etc. We’ll see what results of this…
Update (8/1/2022): I did a track sprint on the new set of plugs, and cylinder 4 still looked off from the rest. Seems like the issue isn’t following the ignition coil. I put the coil packs back to their normal order after the track sprint event.
